Marva Haines Gittings, was born on October 7. 1935 to the late John and Azora Haines in Conowingo, Md. Marva passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 23, 2019 in Port Deposit, Md.

Marva was employed at the Maryland House in Aberdeen, Md. for over 30 years. After retirement from her many years of service at the Maryland House, Marva reentered the workforce at Father Martin’s Ashley Treatment Center in Havre de Grace, Md. She worked at Ashley for over 10 years before retiring.

Marva enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and grandchildren, shopping and travelling. You might also find Marva sitting at her favorite slot machine at casinos in the area.

Marva leaves to cherish her memory; her brother Ronald (Virnelda) Haines; her daughter Beverly Hughes and son Cyrill Parham; son Willard Hughes, Jr., daughter Tameka Guy and son Willard Hughes III; daughter-in-law, Linda Haines; her grandchildren Michele Gittings, Nicole (Wesley) Forchion, Latonia (Kobe) Haines; great-grandchildren, Michaela Forchion and Victoria Asiegbu; nieces Ina Brown-Woodson and Joyce (Bobby) Wallace; goddaughter Gwendolyn (Rex) Eure; family friends Doris Presberry, Monalyn and Zeford Gaddy; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Marva was preceded in death by Willard Hughes, Sr., her son Larry Haines; siblings Elverson Brown, Margaret Gaylord, Oliver Haines, Pauline Clark and Mae Mason.
